Casement Aerodrome

A comprehensive baseline study of pavement condition and maintenance and rehabilitation options at Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnell was carried out for the Department of Defence in 2001. The study was carried out in association with Frank Motherway and Associates Consulting Engineers. Casement Aerodrome is the primary military aerodrome in the Republic of Ireland. Both runways and all taxiways were assessed using FWD, Griptester, ARAN and visual condition rating using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI).

Recommendations on maintenance and upgrading options were put forward on the basis of the data collected. A very significant upgrading programme is being initiated at Casement Aerodrome in 2002.
